Sr. Staff Accountant-Dubai,UAE

Overview:
Performs accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. Assists Manager in identifying issues and implementing new accounting department procedures. Performs most P&L research during month-end closings, prepares journal entries in conjunction with the close. Reconciles various G/L accounts and insures that all reconciliations are completed timely and accurately. Provides advice and training to staff accountants. Works under general supervision from the Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
•Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare routine and non-routine entries to G/L accounts
•Analyzes account activity detailing more complex asset, liability, and capital accounts
•Coordinates processing of significant non-routine transactions into the G/L
•Reconciles and prepares accounting schedules on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis
•Performs P&L research pursuant to departmental or management inquiries
•Prepares and reviews financial performance with management and assists with operational analyses
•Coordinates with other departments in conjunction with supervisor for information and analyses required for proper accounting adjustments
•Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations, and divisions on non-routine problems.
•Assist Accounting Manager in journal entry review, approval, and posting
•Assist Accounting Manager with preparing annual budgets and interim forecasts
•Assist in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances
•Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
•Expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product
•Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
•Cross train with Sr. Accountant, Level I
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or higher degree required. Preferably in Accounting or comparable Accounting experience.
•Intermediate level knowledge of GAAP, research skills, analytical skills, highly detail-oriented, confidentiality
•Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
•Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
•Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
•Expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product
•Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external
