•Track all aspects of Fixed Assets for assigned regions. Includes reviewing transactional work to ensure
•proper accounting for costs (expense vs. capital),
•proper coding of costs, and
•proper authorization for spending
•Review general ledger detail reports to ensure entries are timely and the account balances are correct and properly supported with appropriate backup
•Provide level of support to regional business partners
•Prepare Budget to Actual and other needed project reports periodically as needed
•Gather information regarding accruals at each quarter-end for construction costs incurred but not invoiced
•Record entries to the general ledger through sub-ledger entries (accounts payables, asset management, etc.) and prepares entries in accordance with accrual basis accounting
•Create & prepare fixed asset entries for upload into asset management system
•Research and answer accounting & procedure questions of regional and central support
•Analyze information & options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information
•Maintain account reconciliations for all assigned accounts each fiscal period
•Perform some administrative duties
•Develop good working relationships with the Regional Accounting Teams, Operational Teams, and the Construction Teams
•Assist other team members in ongoing team development
•Provide support and work papers for both internal and external audits, as needed
•Offer suggestions toward process improvement & efficiencies
•Perform special tasks and projects related to functional responsibilities or other area, as needed
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
•1-3 years of accounting experience.
•Well organized with ability to prioritize, multitask and adhere to deadlines.
•Great written & verbal communication skills.
•Must have clear understanding of GAAP accrual accounting.
•Strong proficiency with Excel & PC functionality.
•Must be able to perform a thorough self-review of all work.
•Ability to work cheerfully with others to ensure completion of projects and assigned tasks.
•Must be a strong team player with solid business and reporting ethics.
•Need to bring ambition, determination, devotion, patience & honesty.
•Knowledge of Whole Foods Market mission and core values.
•3-5 years of accounting experience.
•Advanced knowledge of Excel.
•Experience with PeopleSoft and Sharepoint.
•Experience with fixed asset accounting.
•Experience in retail or food industry accounting.
